Active School Flag Initiative
Welcome to our Active School Flag Page. This year we are working collectively as a school from junior infants to sixth class, endeavouring to maintain our active and healthy lifestyle that resulted in us attaining an 'Active School Flag' for Ballyfin National School last year.
The premise of 'mens sana corpore sano, a healthy mind is a healthy body' has always been embraced by our school, be it through the teaching of physical education in the curriculum or through the wide array of extra curricular activities provided by the staff of the school.
In conjunction with the extra curricular activities and the teaching of P.E., we are initiating and organising events that promote our pupils to be physically active, with particular emphasis on inclusion, fun and whole school participation.
Our aim is to hopefully to build on the success of 2015, when we raised our first Active Flag in June. We are hoping to achieve our second flag this school year 2017/2018.
We have a very enthusiastic and hardworking A.S.F. committee in the school that are working extremely hard promoting an active lifestyle within the school. They include
Ms Cullinan 6th Class Teacher
Aoife Brennan and Ciaran Quinn 6th Class
Darragh Prendergast and Edel Meade 5th Class
Tomás Lynch 4th Class
Elisha Gilligan 3rd Class
Stay updated by clicking on the attached links on the 'Active Schools Flag' page to view other pages that will reveal the pupils engaging in a variety of activities and events that have been, planned, organised and coordinated by the staff of the school and the A.S.F committee.
